ROCK SLOPE REMEDIATION
MERCO has a wide range of experience, over 30 years in the remediation of rock slopes as well as rock tunnels and deep shafts. Merco’s experience encompasses nearly all industry standard techniques currently being utilized for remediating rock slopes (rock fall mitigation, rock slope stabilization, and rock fall protection) and protecting adjacent properties (and/or vehicular or pedestrian traffic) from rock falls.
Merco’s expertise in RSR includes but is not limited to:

- Rock Fall Drapery, Pinned Mesh (DT Mesh, Cable Mesh, Composite Mesh)
- Rock Anchors
- Shotcrete, Drainage Systems
- Rock Catch Fences (custom fences, manufactured kits, etc.)
Merco has performed numerous rock slope remediation projects for both public and private sector clients. We self-perform all of the work, including adjacent clearing and access work, grading and traffic protection, and are able to maintain control of the project from NTP to completion. Merco’s combined rock slope/general contractor experience gives us an advantage over most general contractors who subcontract out the majority of rock slope work.
Merco has also performed numerous design-build projects in which Merco assessed the rock slope in question, and provided the owner with an overall rock slope remediation solution. Merco works closely with our clients’ geotechnical engineers and material suppliers to develop the best solutions for their projects. Merco also services our private sector clients by performing routine maintenance on the stabilized slope or rock fall protection devices.

The success of every MERCO project is a function of the commitment of time and energy we spend on Preconstruction activities. Constructability reviews, phasing and scheduling, and value engineering (including any required design/build functions) are all vital components of a well formulated preconstruction strategy, a strategy that has saved MERCO clients millions of dollars.
CONSTRUCTABILITY REVIEW
MERCO’s Constructability Reviews provides owners with the opportunity to benefit from our extensive field experience, at a time when it can have the greatest impact on the overall success of the project. By anticipating and taking steps to mitigate field problems before the start of construction, we more effectively maintain or reduce the project schedule while minimizing potential change orders.
VALUE ENGINEERING
At MERCO we perform Value Engineering studies to help our clients evaluate their options for accelerating the schedule, reducing costs, and/or improving quality. Everything from construction phasing, to the processes and materials are reviewed to ensure that we deliver the best possible value for the owner. Dependent upon the project and considering the circumstances, Merco will perform both the Design and Build tasks related to the work (Design Build). These Design Build projects range from small private rock slope projects with no prior engineering to large public heavy civil projects.
